Hi there,
We are excited to bring you the second edition of our newsletter, continuing our commitment to providing valuable resources and insights for dual-language instruction. As part of our philosophy of Transforming Our Practice, we aim to share strategies that support effective teaching and meaningful student engagement.
In this edition, we focus on the Gradual Release of Responsibility model to support student learning. This structured approach guides students through distinct stages, transitioning from teacher-led instruction to independent mastery.
"I Do" Stage: The teacher introduces concepts and demonstrates processes, providing clear explanations and modeling.
"We Do" Stage: Students engage with the material through guided practice, receiving scaffolding and support.
"You Do Together" Stage: Collaboration takes center stage as students work with peers to negotiate meaning and complete tasks.
-
"You Do Together/Alone" Stage: Students apply their learning independently or with continued peer support, reinforcing their understanding and building confidence.
This model ensures that students receive structured guidance while gradually developing autonomy.
This process not only reduces student anxiety but also fosters self-efficacy, empowering students to take ownership of their learning.
